Surviving to Thriving: Healing Sexual Trauma - February 10

Wen-Do Women’s Self Defence Workshop - February 11

Wen-Do Women’s Self Defence is a program for girls and women of all ages to heighten their sense of self trust and awareness of their environment. Classes are open to anyone whose lived gender identity is that of a woman or girl (whether cis or trans) of any level of physical ability.

Active Bystander Open Session - February 13

When: Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020
Time: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: 313 First Student Centre

This workshop will provide participants the opportunity to view themselves as leaders in supporting survivors, empowering each other to step up when problematic behaviours are occurring and engage in understanding the continuum of sexual violence. The aim of the workshop is to help participants gain confidence in analyzing the situations, accessing available support and ensuring the community is aware of all resources available. The Active Bystander training is taught by peers in the York University community, and certificates will be distributed to those who attend the workshop.

This interactive workshop builds on current understandings of consent messaging; laws related to Age of Consent, sexting and intoxication; and scenarios for practising the initiation and rejection of sexual encounters.
